Lora . . . is a first generation American with artistic roots going back to her great grandfather who was a sculptor in Austria. She studied in Europe and earned her BFA from the Ringling School of Art and Design. For over 25 years, Yakimov has enjoyed a successful art career exhibiting in museums and galleries across the US and in Holland. "I am an artist who loves water life. My work is influenced by living near the water since I was seven. I first expressed water in a super realistic style with oil paintings that capture its flowing movement and glassy reflections. Recently, I have been enjoying painting on silk. It is a great fabric for tropical climates and I am most excited by knowing that people now wear my art!"
Roxy "Art and Creativity have been woven into my life from early childhood. My mother and I would make projects together that were of a practical nature but also fun and creative. This practical aspect continued as we raised four children and encouraged their interests. My art has most often involved fabric and fiber with clothing, quilting, weaving and the needle arts. Recently, I have turned to silk because of its variety of weaves and the rich colors of the dyes. I have been a teacher most of my life and I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for painting on silk with others."
